Library Notes--12/18/2012

Tis the season for schedule changes:
the library will close early, at 5 pm,  the next two Mondays, Dec. 24 & 31.
The after school program will meet as usual this Thursday (unless school is cancelled);
we'll skip Dec. 27 and return on January 3.

CALLING ALL PRESCHOOLERS (and their caregivers):
Mark your calendars and please join us for 
"First Fridays Storytimes" on January 4, at 10 am.
We hope there will be enough interest for a storytime at least once a month.

THANK YOU to everyone who supported the library through the Holiday Sale ----
those who donated items, those who bought items, those who stopped in to say hi,
and ESPECIALLY to The Friends of the Morrill Memorial and Harris Library, who worked
so hard to get it all together. Thanks for another successful sale.

We still have some wreaths, a few bowls of paperwhites and a couple of amaryllis for sale here at the library.

Thursday evening, Nov. 29th,  at 7pm : 
Strafford resident Gus Speth will discuss his newest book "America the Possible: Manifesto for a New Economy".
Please join us for a timely and thought provoking talk.
Books will be available for sale, and refreshments will be served.

Also on Thursday, at 1pm, the reading Group meets to discuss "Train Dreams" by Denis Johnson.

The library will be closed on Thursday ---- Happy Thanksgiving to all.

This Saturday, Kasaundra Landon will be working at the library (9 - 12) so if you have 
any questions or need help with downloadable audiobooks or e-books through the library,
it would be a great time to stop by. 
Bring your device (make sure you know how to access your accout if it's a Kindle, an ipod or ipad).

The library will be closed Monday (today!) Nov. 12 for Veterans Day.
Returns can be dropped off in the drop box in Coburns.

Please return all LUV DVD's this week, so we can exchange them for another set.
And just a general reminder to try and return newer items in a timely fashion so that

Holiday Sale coming!

The Friends of the Morrill Memorial & Harris Library in Strafford will host
their annual Holiday Sale on Saturday, 12/1 at the Strafford library from
11 am to 2 pm.  We hope you'll stop by for some holiday punch and cookies
and kick off your holiday shopping here.  In addition to beautiful wreaths
and potted flowering bulbs, there will be books, jewelry and delicious home

Thursday is a busy day at the library this week:
1 pm: the Reading Group meets to discuss "The Cossacks"
3:15 - 4:15: the after school program continues
6:30 : the annual meeting of the Friends of the Morrill Memorial and Harris Library
           After a short business meeting, at 7pm, we will be treated to a presentation by the Strafford Writers Group, along with an intermission and refreshments.
