Library Notes--February 14, 2011

February 15, 2011
A reminder that the library will be CLOSED next Monday, Feb. 21, for the
President's Day holiday.

Thursday, the after school program will meet as usual ...... but next week is
school vacation week, and we will NOT meet on 2/24.
However, Friday Storytime continues at 10 am .......... preschoolers on
vacation are welcome to join us!

Thursday, Feb. 24, the book group meets at 1 pm to discuss the book "Decline
and Fall" by Evely Waugh. There's still plenty of time to read it and join in.

A limited number of tax instruction booklets have (finally) arrived -----
some 1040, 1040 EZ and 1040 A. We do not have the forms, but can download and
print them pretty easily, or you can pick one up at the South Strafford P.O.

We are hoping to start replacing some older, classic children's VHS movies
with DVD's (some Disney, Charlotte's Webb, Anne of Green Gables, ET, Old
Yeller, etc. etc.) If anyone has some DVD's that they no longer use and you
might want to donate or sell inexpensively to the library, please let us
know !! It would be much appreciated.

The library has a new magazine: "Budget Travel". It was offered as a freebie
to a local family and they were kind enough to think of the the Morrill
Library.
Other recent arrivals, for younger readers: The 2011 Newbery Award winner
"Moon Over Manifest" by Claire Vanderpool and the Caldecott Award winner "A
Sick Day for Amos McGee by Philip Stead, as well as " Nini Lost and Found" by
Anita Lobel, "Big Nate Strikes Again " by Lincoln peirce and "Bone: Quest for
the Spark" by Tom Sniegoski & Jeff Smith. For not-so-young readers, "Escape
From the Land of Snows: The Young Dalai Lama's Harrowing Flight to Freedom" by
Stephan Talty, "The Empty Family: Stories" by Colm Toibin, and for mystery
readers: "Heartstone" by CJ Sansom,  "Red Herring Without Mustard" by Alan
Bradley, "Tick Tock" by James Patterson,  "The Attenbury Emeralds: the New
Lord Peter Whimsey / Harriet Vane Mystery" by Rebecca Paton Walsh, and "Fade
to White" by Wendy Clinch ( Vermont author).

A new rotation of LUV audiobooks and DVD's arrived last week.

As many of you know, the IRS is not mailing out tax forms this year. We can
download and print forms here, and we have just ordered few instruction
booklets. Hopefully, they will arrive soon.

If you're interested in the downloadable audiobooks or e-books , but couldn't
make it to our workshops, we now have a brochure to guide you through the
process (many thanks to Kasaundra Landon). You need high-speed internet access
and your library nu...
